Diversification is the cornerstone of life on our farm. 'Mono-cropping', or the practice of growing large areas of a single crop, is fraught with challenges making them prone to pests and climate extremes while exhausting the soil, requiring more chemical fertilizers year after year.
At Shadow Creek Ranch we grow a variety of crops; Medicinal Herbs, garlic, berries, orchard fruits, specialty peppers and pumpkins as well as greens and root vegetables. This diversification is essential to maintining soil health, increasing crop yields, safeguarding against crop failures and protecting against vulnerability to climate change.
As part of our agri-tourism program we offer daily tours of our farm operations including our garlic and pumpkin patch! We also offer tastings of our speciaty cullinary salts, with something for every discerning palate! Interpretive forest walks are available, workshops on agroecological farming practices, and you can watch the sunset over our 2 acre protected marshland.
We are thrilled to be welcoming agri-tourists from all over the world at Shadow Creek Ranch.
